Allegri agent: “He couldn’t have done any more at Juventus”

Start

The future of Massimiliano Allegri remains uncertain, following his tumultuous departure from Juventus. The former Bianconeri boss’ exit was marked by chaos after the Coppa Italia final against Atalanta, the Livorno-born coach has yet to decide on his next venture.

Giovanni Branchini, Allegri’s long-time agent and trusted confidant, discussed the end of Allegri’s tenure at Juventus and his future prospects in an interview with Fulvio Collovati (as quoted by Calciomercato).

“He Couldn’t Have Done More”

Branchini addressed the limitations Allegri faced at Juventus: “The squad of the last few seasons at Juve was not as perfect as people wanted to believe, otherwise they wouldn’t have made this summer’s market moves. In my opinion, there was simply a roster that couldn’t allow for much more.”

The New Juventus

Branchini also commented on the significant changes within the club: “We have seen the cases that have overwhelmed the club and all the subsequent changes. In the last two months, I have seen people of absolute value leave Juve. People who created this youth sector, the Next Gen. There has been, in my opinion, a very forced turnover that has different origins, rooted in the ownership’s desire to completely change the club’s identity. There are very important arrivals, a new coach who needs to prove himself, and new players.”

Turning Down Real Madrid

Reflecting on Allegri’s decision to stay with Juventus instead of moving to Real Madrid, Branchini said: “When Allegri chose not to go to Real Madrid, he made a choice from the heart because he knew that at Juve he would earn less in four years than he would in three years there. He had to rebuild a squad, but there were no resources to do it. He has never regretted not signing with Real.”

Future Prospects

Looking ahead, Branchini shared Allegri’s aspirations: “Allegri is looking for an interesting project to coach with his characteristics and convictions, which are clear to everyone. I believe he has shown something over these years, he loves his job and will wait for an important project.”

On the Criticisms

Branchini also addressed the criticisms Allegri has faced: “Many people have made a career out of criticizing Allegri. There are mid-tier figures who have found popularity through offending and criticizing Allegri, popularity they might not have otherwise achieved. I justify it because everyone has to make a living as they know and can.”
