Max Allegri believes Juventus put in a good performance in their 1-1 draw against Bologna: ‘A week ago we would have lost this match.’ The Bianconeri went behind early on through a Riccardo Orsolini penalty before Arek Milik pulled one back in the second half. Speaking with Sky Sport Italia (as quoted by TuttoJuve), Allegri lamented on missed opportunities during the game, but insisted that Juve did enough to win the game:
“I hoped until the end to win it, but a week ago we would have lost it, we risked a lot, it was not easy here, we had to be more cynical. The final chance happened to Soulè after a great action, at that juncture the young people would like to smash it into the goal but they must have coolness. However, those who came in off the bench gave energy to the team after a first half in which we played, pressed, took a naïve penalty on a high ball, and from here we have to restart.”
“The first half we ran a lot, in fact at the beginning of the second we struggled, there is room for improvement but we have to be happy because a week ago we would have lost this match. However even if we won today we would not have been in the Champions League, there are a lot of points to be made. This is a good performance, we played a meaner match, certainly the game in Milan was the worst performance.
“Was Chiesa angry about the change? In this moment you have to be all at the disposal of the team, he had taken a blow to the hip, in fact in the locker room they medicated him, whoever comes in from the bench came in well and you have to be happy, the team never backs down, there were so many young players on the pitch, you have to think only about improving.”
“Di Maria? He’s fine, he had his ankle bothering him and I left him at home, Di Maria is an important player for us but the team played a good game, from the point of view of spirit.”
“Playing against v playing against Bologna? The boys are human too, they were coming from a week after Inter and Napoli, since January 18 we have been taking hits, and it is normal to have a moment of difficulty like the first 15 minutes against Inter, we have to improve, the boys are doing their best despite the accumulation of episodes on and off the field and they were also good at staying up.”
