Recent reports have revealed that Spanish authorities are seeking a significant jail term of four years and nine months for Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti over allegations of tax fraud.
According to reputable Spanish media outlets such as Relevo and OK Diario, the Madrid Prosecutor has formally requested the aforementioned sentence for Ancelotti.
The allegations stem from charges of tax evasion allegedly committed by Ancelotti during the years 2013 and 2014. It’s been suggested that Ancelotti devised a complex network of building societies to evade proper taxation on his image rights during this period. Reports indicate that Ancelotti purportedly orchestrated the transfer of his image rights to other companies in a bid to conceal income.
Ancelotti, a renowned figure in football coaching circles with stints at Milan and Juventus, initially joined Real Madrid in 2013. During his two-year tenure at the Bernabeu, he achieved significant success, including securing the historic ‘La Decima’ – the club’s tenth Champions League title – in the 2013-14 season.
Returning to the Spanish capital in 2021, Ancelotti has recently inked a contract extension with Real Madrid, tying him to the club until June 2026.
