Monza coach Alessandro Nesta has expressed his determination to turn around the team’s fortunes following their third consecutive defeat, a disappointing loss to Lecce. Despite the team’s struggles and their position at the bottom of the Serie A table, the club’s management has opted to retain Nesta’s leadership.
In a candid post-match press conference, Nesta addressed the team’s performance and his own accountability. “We conceded early, and it was a significant step backward compared to our previous matches. We were inferior,” he stated. He emphasized the need for the team to regain their composure and solidity, urging them not to panic despite their difficult situation. “We must not be frightened; the standings are what they are, but we cannot be frantic. We need to stay calm.”
Reflecting on the team’s attitude during the match, Nesta admitted his disappointment. “I blame myself for many things; I have my faults. I didn’t expect today’s approach; perhaps something escaped my attention,” he acknowledged.
Nesta remains optimistic about his future with Monza despite the challenges. “I’m not giving up. I approach this profession with tranquility,” he asserted. “If they keep me, I must do everything to change the situation. Courage is needed.”
