New Fiorentina signing Yacine Adli shared his thoughts on joining La Viola and his expectations for the upcoming season. The French midfielder expressed enthusiasm about his move and confidence in the team’s potential under manager Raffaele Palladino while speaking at his first official press conference.
When asked about choosing Fiorentina, Adli stated, “When I returned to Milan for pre-season, the directors immediately told me I was on the market. I prepared myself to the fullest for my new experience, and I’m happy to be here in Florence. My choice was simple; I never had any doubts.”
Regarding his expectations from Florence, Adli emphasized the club’s ambition: “I’m here for Fiorentina’s ambitious project. I’m focused solely on the pitch. The coach is very strong, and we have everything to do well. Later, I’ll be curious to discover the beautiful Florence.”
Adli also discussed his preferred position on the field, saying, “I like to play football. In this system, I see myself very well in the two-man midfield, but I’m at the coach’s disposal to play literally anywhere.”
On Palladino’s approach, Adli commented, “I watch a lot of football, and already last year at Monza, you could see his beautiful style of play. We all know him well, now even more so working with him. It takes time and understanding together what he wants from us. The team will grow a lot.”
Addressing comparisons to Zidane, Adli humbly stated, “Zidane was one of the strongest players in history; I have nothing similar to him. I think about doing my own thing and working. I’m an atypical player, tall and very technical. Many tell me I’m slow, but I try to give my best, cover a lot of ground, and move the ball as well as possible. I’m young, and Florence will help me improve.”
Regarding his goals at Fiorentina, Adli expressed ambition: “We all have the same goal: to give our best for Florence and its fans. In the standings, we’ll aim high. There are many strong teams in Serie A, but we want to carve out our space. We have no limits and will aim for the maximum.”
Adli also touched on his development as a player, saying, “Coming to Serie A from abroad is very tough; tactically, it’s the most difficult league in the world. I feel more complete since I arrived from France. Pioli made me work a lot on the defensive phase, the change of role helped me a lot. I still need to grow on the non-possession phase. I feel good and want to grow here.”
On his national team aspirations, Adli stated, “I want to convince everyone that I’m a quality player. If I do well on the field, Deschamps will undoubtedly notice me. The goal is to improve day by day and settle in as quickly as possible. For now, I’m only thinking about Fiorentina.”
Adli concluded by discussing his conversation with former coach Pioli about Florence: “I talked with the coach, yes. He always spoke very well of Florence and Fiorentina. When I had the opportunity to come to Florence, I immediately took the chance.”
