French star Yacine Adli believes the difference in his performance with Fiorentina centre around being wanted by the coach. The 24-year-old midfielder, who joined the Italian club on loan from AC Milan this summer, has quickly become an integral part of the team’s success. With Fiorentina currently sitting third in Serie A, just one point behind leaders Napoli, Adli’s contributions have been significant.
In an interview with RMC’s Intégrale Sport, Adli expressed his satisfaction with his current situation: “This is an important season. It allows me to reveal myself, to show my performances in the long term, and demonstrate this consistency.”
The French midfielder highlighted the difference in his experiences at Milan and Fiorentina. “Before Milan, I left Bordeaux, which was in a complicated situation. I arrived at Milan, recruited by the directors. It’s not always the same when it’s the coach who wants you. I arrive at Fiorentina with a coach who wants me, a club where I’m unanimously accepted. In terms of confidence, it’s different. I feel very comfortable on the field, I can express myself at my best. This results in what we’re achieving on the pitch. It’s important for everyone to feel this confidence from the coach and the club.”
Adli credits his time in Italy for his tactical development. “Italy has brought me a lot tactically. Today I can play in all midfield positions. I’m a more complete player. I’m asked to be the team’s organizer and to bring something extra to the team defensively,” he explained.
Regarding his future, Adli remains focused on the present. “It’s hard to project. We’re still at the beginning of the season. The goal is to have a great season, let the pitch do the talking, and have this consistency in performances. If we have a great season as a team and personally, Fiorentina won’t fail to exercise the purchase option. If I have a great season and Fiorentina doesn’t exercise the option, it will be good for me too. The most important thing remains the pitch and showing my qualities over time.”
The midfielder also keeps the French national team in his sights. “Didier Deschamps and his staff watch the matches of French players. There’s a lot of competition for all positions in the French team. You have to continue with your performances, maybe I’ll have the chance to be called up. If it doesn’t happen, we’ll continue to work,” Adli stated, demonstrating his ambition and determination to reach the highest level of international football.
