Napoli’s pursuit of Karim Adeyemi has taken an interesting turn as the Borussia Dortmund forward reportedly demands a substantial salary to consider the move. According to recent reports from Calciomercato, Adeyemi is seeking a net salary of 4.5 million euros per season until June 2030 to join the Serie A leaders.
Napoli manager Antonio Conte, despite publicly downplaying transfer activities, is privately pushing for reinforcements following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s departure to Paris Saint-Germain for 70 million euros. The club is targeting both a central defender and a left-winger, with Adeyemi and Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho topping their wishlist.
While Garnacho remains an attractive but expensive option, Adeyemi has emerged as Conte’s preferred choice due to his technical and physical attributes. The German international, who has struggled with injuries and form this season at Dortmund, is valued between 45-50 million euros by his current club.
Interestingly, Borussia Dortmund appear to be preparing for Adeyemi’s potential departure. The German club have reportedly identified Kevin Schade, currently playing for Brentford, as a possible replacement. Schade, a 22-year-old German-Nigerian winger, has impressed in England with 9 goals in 59 appearances since joining in January 2023.
As negotiations continue, Napoli faces the challenge of meeting Adeyemi’s salary demands while also agreeing on a transfer fee with Dortmund.
