Former Inter and Fiorentina defender Lele Adani has heaped praise on new Juventus manager Thiago Motta while offering mild criticism of his predecessor Massimiliano Allegri. Speaking on his Twitch show “Viva El Futbol,” Adani discussed Juventus’ recent 3-0 victory over Verona and the impact of the club’s new head coach.
Adani emphasized that while Juventus is reportedly working on signing players like Koopmeiners and Sancho, the most significant addition is not a player, but a coach. He stated, “Thiago Motta is the greatest acquisition Juventus could have made. All these player signings will have enhanced value because of the tenth acquisition, who is actually the first: the coach.”
According to Adani, Thiago Motta represents a cornerstone for Juventus’ future. He believes that Motta’s presence will elevate the team’s recent acquisitions, providing a foundation for a new project. “Juventus has made a decisive step. They must show they can follow his vision, charisma, ideas, and integrity. For me, Thiago Motta is the milestone upon which to build a project.”
Adani critiqued Allegri’s tenure, acknowledging that while Juventus had spirit under Allegri, they lacked the innovative ideas needed to progress. “Juventus had spirit last year, finishing the first half of the season level with Inter. However, without ideas to support that spirit, you can’t move forward.”
Adani noted a visible shift in Juventus’ gameplay, highlighting improvements in ball movement, support play, and ball recovery. “The enthusiasm was evident after just half an hour. Juventus, by moving away from their previous style, has introduced new ideas and quality into their game.”
