Former footballer and current pundit Daniele Adani recently shared his thoughts on various football topics in an interview with Radio Manà Manà Sport. His comments covered the Italian national team, the upcoming Roma-Inter match, and key players in Serie A.
Regarding the national team, Adani noted, “I believe the change is moving in a specific direction, both in the playing system and in lowering the average age, but I think it has given players the opportunity to express themselves at their best. There are certainly some defensive errors, but the team is cohesive and plays attractive football. It seems like a good restart, and perhaps unexpectedly so, which Italy needed.”
On the upcoming Roma-Inter clash, Adani commented, “Inter is strong, with many rotations and different interpretations. It’s a difficult match for Roma, who need to bring out their best in a challenging moment. We know how Juric wants to play. We need to see if it’s in Roma’s DNA. At Torino, there was a lot of running from the forwards, but the situation in Roma is different. A compromise needs to be found.”
Adani had specific advice for Roma’s captain Lorenzo Pellegrini: “He has a high responsibility, with attention and responsibilities multiplied for him. Paradoxically, given his quality, role, history, and attitude, he should be doing complicated things, but now he should do simple things and have the mental capacity to make the right choice.”
The pundit praised young Roma talents Pisilli and Bove, stating, “Pisilli is a gift of intelligence, humility, and quality. He’s not just available, he adds value. I’m glad he debuted for the national team; I’m happy when there are stories like these.”
Regarding AC Milan’s recent tactical changes, Adani observed, “It was a strong choice, but it doesn’t surprise me. Fonseca looks for many solutions above the ball, but if it’s to last, growth is needed.”
Finally, on Antonio Conte’s impact at his new club, Adani remarked, “I’ve seen a statistic that says since 1990-91, only three teams have won the Scudetto without European competitions, and it happened with Milan and Juventus. It’s not a given that he can win the Scudetto, but he’s doing well. He seems like the usual Conte, but with a more pronounced sense of achievement and great serenity. The challenge seems feasible to him; he’s started well, even if he now has a difficult schedule ahead.”
