AC Milan refinance Elliott Loan

Start

AC Milan have announced the successful refinancing of the vendor loan initially provided by Elliott Advisors UK Limited, marking a significant step in ensuring the club’s financial stability. The agreement, spearheaded by Milan’s current owner RedBird Capital, includes an additional €170 million investment that reduces the loan’s principal to €489 million and extends its maturity to July 2028. This move comes as a clear message of resilience during a challenging period for the Rossoneri, who are struggling on the pitch but remain committed to their long-term growth.

In an official statement, AC Milan confirmed: “The refinancing with Elliott, in its position solely as lender, includes an additional investment of €170 million by AC Milan’s owner, RedBird Capital. This reduces the principal amount of the loan to €489 million, with a new maturity date set for July 2028.”

Paolo Scaroni, the chairman of AC Milan, expressed his satisfaction with the refinancing agreement and highlighted the progress made under RedBird’s ownership. “Over the course of the past few years, AC Milan’s financial positioning has steadily grown and strengthened under the guidance of RedBird, a committed owner with long-term objectives,” Scaroni stated. “Significant work has been done to ensure the stability of our iconic club, position it for sustainable operational success, and uphold the legacy, tradition, and values of the Rossoneri.”

This development underscores RedBird’s dedication to AC Milan’s future as it continues to navigate a competitive football landscape while maintaining its identity as one of Europe’s most storied clubs.

While this financial milestone provides reassurance off the pitch, AC Milan is currently enduring a tough season in Serie A. After 16 matches, they sit in 15th place with 23 points—12 points behind league leaders Atalanta—though they still have one game in hand. The team has managed just one win in their last five league outings, drawing three and losing one.

Despite their struggles, Milan has shown glimpses of quality. They have scored 24 goals in Serie A so far (the sixth-best attack) while conceding 18 (the fifth-best defense). However, inconsistency has plagued their campaign under coach Paulo Fonseca.
