Ancelotti: ‘Mourinho is very experienced in finals’

Start

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti believes Roma may have an edge in the Europa League final thanks to ‘experienced’ coach Jose Mourinho. The Giallorossi will take on Sevilla in the final on Wednesday evening, knowing that the Spanish side have won all six of the finals they’ve featured in. But Roma can boast a similar record of their own, knowing that Mourinho has won in every European final he’s made it to. Speaking on the 40th anniversary celebration of the Giallorossi’s second Scudetto, Ancelotti pointed to Mourinho’s experience as a potentially decisive factor in a tough European final:

“Sevilla have been doing very well in the last two months after going through a difficult period, they were almost in the relegation zone but since they changed coach they are doing well. They play in a really organized way.”

“Mourinho? He has the chances to try to play his game and try to win it. There is a very experienced coach on the bench in the finals and I think he will play for it. Hopefully he will win.”

“My future? I still try to win for a while,  but not for long.”

“Winning in Rome after 40 years, that was something special. Keeping the past alive is the great strength of a club. Real Madrid does this in a clear way. If Roma keeps the memory of all the successes alive, it will be a better club in the future and win again.”
