Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis says there should be no half-time in football, saying young people ‘don’t have the patience to watch football.’ The Partenopei president was speaking to ‘Che Tempo Che Fa‘ about a range of topics, including the future of coach Luciano Spalletti, confirming that he would be leaving this season. De Laurentiis also shared his opinions on the future of football, and what he views as potential changes that could be made to improve the game:
“I don’t want to revolutionize football, but I would like to bring back the very young people who are recoiling with smartphones and platforms. They don’t have the patience to follow football, which turns into a non-passion.”
“I would like to talk to the minister of education and teach in schools to make them coaches, making them watch Argentina-France. We still have the 15-minute half-time, it’s crazy. There should be no intermission, we have 27 players to play the 90 minutes.”
“There are no equal strengths, there are unbalanced leagues. The karts don’t compete with Formula 3… The drivers from karting then get to Formula One. The championships should be divided by city types. You can’t play with a city of 3 million people against a city of 30,000.”
