Inter CEO Beppe Marotta says its ‘incomprehensible’ that the Lega Serie A have decided to bring forward their game against Atalanta. The Nerazzurri will take to the pitch against Fiorentina on Wednesday 24 May in the Coppa Italia final, while their match against La Dea will be played just 72 hours later, on Saturday 27 May.
Speaking with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Marotta expressed his displeasure at the decision, explaining the reckless nature of choice:
“It is incomprehensible that the league has brought forward to Saturday a match that could have even been played on Monday.”
“This puts at risk the safety of the players, who are forced to play three games in one week, with a Coppa Italia final in the middle that could even end up beyond regulation time.”
