Allegri to take on new role at Juventus?

Start

Juventus are reportedly ready to offer manager Massimiliano Allegri the role of director of football at the club. The 55-year-old has endured a torrid time with the Bianconeri since his return, being eliminated from the Champions League last year while having to contend with a series of injuries and off-the-pitch issues relating to Juve’s court cases.

Bianconeri supporters have now called for the coach to leave the club, with many mounting a social media campaign calling for his sacking, while there are reports that some players have grown disconnected with the club, in part due to Allegri’s tactics and approach.

90minutes reports that the Bianconeri could preempt Allegri’s sacking, and in turn save themselves the prospect of having to pay a hefty severance, by offering him the role of director of football at the club

The role in question would see Allegri become Juve’s new director of football, becoming a key part of the club’s new leadership group led by Gianluca Ferrero following Andrea Agnelli’s departure.

According to 90minute sources, ‘Allegri would be pleased with such a move, understanding that he will be getting another huge job and will be staying at the club to help with a much-needed squad rebuild.’
