Atalanta defender Merih Demiral reportedly fought with coach Gian Piero Gasperini over a failed move to Inter. The Turkish international made the permanent move to Bergamo last summer, having spent the previous season on loan with La Dea, but has featured sparingly this campaign.
Reports linked him with a move to the Nerazzurri during the last summer transfer window, prior to joining Atalanta permanently, as Inter were looking for a new centre-back after failing to sign Bremer from Torino.
Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reports that Demiral and Gasperini had fought about the defenders desire to leave the club, although there’s no indication if that was recently, or last summer. According to the report, the 25-year-old informed Atalanta management that he wished to leave, but the transfer was directly blocked by Gasperini.
Demiral has featured just 24 times this season, often from the bench, with Gasperini preferring to play Rafael Toloi, Berat Djimsiti and Giorgio Scalvini in his back line.
