Breaking: Juventus point penalty revoked pending new trial

Start

Juventus will have their 15-point penalty revoked for the moment, but will face a new trial over the alleged capital gains. The verdict was issued today following a three-hour hearing at the Collegio di Garanzia on Wednesday where Juventus were able to present their appeal against the penalty.

Today’s verdict mean the Bianconeri are back up to third in the Serie A standings for the moment, behind Napoli and Lazio, however there’s no word yet on when the new trial will take place, meaning there’s potential for the case to drag on into the 2023-24 season,

The appeals of  former Juventus president Andrea Agnelli and club directors Fabio Paratici, Federico Cherubini and Maurizio Arrivabene were rejected, meaning their bans are suspended temporarily pending a new trial, while those of Pavel Nedved and all the former members of the board have been accepted.

The FIGC elected not to be present at the appeal, allowing CONI prosecutor Ugo Taucer to summarise instead, stating that the ruling “has a lack of clarity in the motivation that must be appreciated and evaluated by a new judgment.”
