Former Juventus midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has insisted that current Bianconeri midfielder Adrien Rabiot is fundamental to the ongoing project and that he has to stay in Turin. Sissoko played with Rabiot when the pair were at Paris Saint-Germain and in an interview with Tuttosport, the 38-year-old discussed Rabiot, the current Juve side and the qualification of European football.
“I’ve always supported and defended him. He is a very talented player, he just needed an adjustment period. We are talking about a strong one. What he is doing now is normal for me, it doesn’t surprise me. He is fundamental for Juventus, but also for the French national team.”
Would you be in favour of him staying in Turin?
“Not even discussing it. He is still a young boy, the Juventus project must be based on Adrien Rabiot for constant growth. He must be the Bianconeri’s base, if I were in the club I would do everything to renew his contract.”
Do you like today’s Juventus?
“Yes. Although there have been various problems since the beginning of the season, the team is now playing well, has raised its level and is convincing. Especially now they are winning, which is the most important thing. It wasn’t easy”.
Despite the 15-point penalty, can they reach the Champions League?
“Yes and that’s the hope of all the Bianconeri. It would be important to see Juventus in the competition because this is the level of the team. Juventus always aspire to win the championship and in Europe. The truth is that without Juve, the Champions League is not the same.”
Is Allegri the right coach?
“In my opinion, yes. He is doing well, in a difficult situation. He is the present and the future of Juve.”
