Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan starred in France’s 4-0 victory over the Netherlands on Friday and was able to keep a clean sheet after denying Memphis Depay from the penalty spot deep into injury time. He claims that he is a ‘specialist in saving shots from the penalty spot’ when he spoke with Sky Sport Italia after the game, as quoted by MilanPress. The Rossoneri ‘keeper has missed large parts of the season due to a calf injury that kept him sidelined for around four months of action. However, he returned at the end of February and his importance to Milan has been clear, despite Stefano Pioli’s side winning just once since the Frenchman returned. Maignan has been the number one ever since he joined from Lille in 2021 to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma and he will be hoping that the Rossoneri can turn things around, with crucial Serie A and Champions League matches ahead.
“We had an excellent performance as a team and managed to score goals right away. The ending made me shine, but I’m happy with the success. What is your perspective? I have to stay focused.
