Juventus have confirmed that Alex Sandro is expected to be out until after the international break, but it’s better news for Angel Di Maria and Federico Chiesa. The Bianconeri were hit with a series of injuries during their 1-0 win over Freiburg in the Europa League, with Sandro lasting just 22 minutes before limping off and being replaced by Leonardo Bonucci.
Tests conducted by Juventus this morning have confirmed that Sandro has a low-grade lesion of the hamstring muscle of the left thigh and his return to competitive action is expected after the international break, which takes place March 25.
Angel Di Maria also complained of cramping and soreness after the game but tests have confirmed that there was no muscle injury to his left thigh. It’s good news for Chiesa as well as he was seen to be in some discomfort at one point during the match, and had to receive treatment on the sidelines. Scans have excluded an injury to his right knee and both he and Di Maria will continue to be assessed daily.
Sky Sport Italia have already suggested that while there’s optimism over the injuries, both Di Maria and Chiesa are expected to sit out this weekends match against Sampdoria as a precuation.
