Paulo Dybala: ‘Juventus owe me €3 million’

Start

A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport outlines how Juventus still owe Paulo Dybala €3m regarding the non-renewal of his contract. La Joya was released by the Bianconeri last summer after failing to come to an agreement on a new deal, with reports at the time suggesting his wage demands were deemed excessive by the Juve management.

La Gazzetta report that Dybala was interviewed in Rome for an hour as part of the Prisma investigation which is looking at the Bianconeri’ financial statements from 2019 to 2021 and for which 12 people (including former president Andrea Agnelli) plus the company have been remanded for trial.

Gazzetta quote Dybala as saying:

“I don’t remember when my last salary was paid, but I do know that Juventus still owes me money. When we made the agreement to move salaries, we knew that if I still had a contract the arrears would be paid in increments on the next ones, if instead I left they had to pay me immediately. I know that in April 2023 Juventus has the last opportunity to pay those €3m or so. If not, my lawyer will make demands in writing, although I hope not to go that far. I want my money back but without any lawsuit, avoiding problems for me and Juventus.”

The player’s lawyer, Luca Ferrari, who was heard in the Prosecutor’s Office in Turin on Tuesday, had already made a claim in writing (12 May) for the non-renewal of Dybala. ‘I had not asked for this,’ said the player, ‘only the arrears’. It appears from the investigation papers that the €3.7 million owed to Dybala was included in the 2021-22 budget as a risk fund, which would not appear in the clubs budget.
