Osimhen: ‘We’ll see what happens at the end of the year’

Victor Osimhen says he is happy at Napoli and only focused on the Partenopei, but he doesn’t know what the future will bring. The Nigeria International is leading the scoring charts in Serie A and notched up another Champions League goal in Napoli’s 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday. Speaking with ESPN, as quoted by Il Mattino, the forward briefly touched on his future:

“Being the top scorer is not my priority, the team comes first. When you do so well it is normal that the best clubs look at you, attracting their interest gives me the motivation to do more for me and my team. I am only focused on Napoli, they have the final word. At the end of the year we’ll see what happens, but it’s not up to me. It’s up to the club.”

Il Mattino suggest that while Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis is adamant that none of his star players are for sale at present, should he receive an un-rejectable offer, he is almost certain to accept. The report claims that ‘it is the law of the club’ as there are ‘no non-transferable players’, with the possible exception Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who is expected to stay at the club beyond the summer.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have all been linked with the 24-year-old who has netted 24 goals in all competitions this season, 18 of which have come in Serie A. Osimhen has scored in all but two of the games he’s featured in so far this year, scoring 10 goals in 2023 in eight appearances.
