Hakan Çalhanoğlu is on the verge of resigning with Inter.
Çalhanoğlu, 29, will see his current deal expire in June 2024. His representatives, however, have been in negotiations to extend his contract since the World Cup break.
Giuseppe Marotta, Inter’s CEO of Sport, revealed that he was “optimistic” Çalhanoğlu would renew his contract. Fabrizio Romano has since announced that negotiations have reached the final stages between the two parties.
The Türkiye international is set to see his wage increase from €5m net per annum to €5.5 – €6m. It is expected that his impending renewal will tie him to Inter until 2026.
Çalhanoğlu, who played for four seasons at inner-city rivals Milan, has featured in all but one Serie A fixture this season (for which he was absent due to a muscular problem) and has contributed two goals and five assists to his side’s top four endeavours.
He has been commended for his performances in midfield this season covering the injured Marcelo Brozović’s role in the team. Simone Inzaghi subsequently views him as an integral part of his squad for the forthcoming years.
