Max Allegri says it hard to set objectives for Juventus right now as their main target is to climb back up the table. The Bianconeri edged a hard-fought game against Fiorentina last night, the only goal coming from midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the first-half. Speaking with DAZN post-match, Allegri explained why he chose to use an attacking trident of Angel Di Maria, Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa and how his team have reacted to their 15-point penalty:
“Fiorentina were pouring forward to seek an equaliser, we had chances to go 2-0 up and didn’t take them, then you need to be very focused and careful when it gets a bit chaotic late on.”
“It was a hard-fought game, two goals were disallowed for tight offsides, and I can only thank the lads, because it is hard to set targets at this moment in time. Our target now is to climb back up the table and I see a good spirit from the lads.”
“The trident? Up front we had chances and passes created at speed. Chiesa on the left and Di Maria on the right? We started like that then I put Chiesa on the right since Amrabat was man-to-man with Angel. The same trident against Nantes? Now there are fashions, I accept everything but there is also the balance of the team. The season is not all the same, I have to be lucky to understand when it’s threright moment”.
“Points penalty? Following the verdict in the game with Atalanta there was a good reaction, then with Monza we went backwards. We needed some time to readjust, now the objective is to take one game at a time, without forgetting that we would be second with 44 points. Anyway it’s an experience that makes you grow.”
“Europa League? It’s a goal for us like the Coppa Italia.”
