Sarri: ‘There are teams better equipped than us’

Start

Maurizio Sarri believes there are teams ‘better equipped’ than Lazio at the moment and concedes that his team has ‘lost sharpness’ since beating Milan. The Biancocelesti slipped to a 2-0 defeat to Atalanta last night and while they created chances of their own, they lacked a clinical edge in front of goal. Speaking with Sky Sport Italia after the game, Sarri reflected on his teams missed opportunities and what he feels they’re lacking at present:

“We lost concentration after the second goal and we were disorganized. We were in trouble in the first part of the match and we wasted a chance to go 1-0. Tonight, Atalanta were in top form so it’s normal that we went into difficulty.

After the Milan win we lost a bit of sharpness in the most important players. These are moments, so I’m convinced they’ll come back because today we had the situations to get back into the game”.

“Immobile? When you talk about certain players who have certain numbers it’s clear that having them at 100% is decisive. He’s playing with good continuity so hopefully he can continue to find his best form.”

“During a season you lose battles, so let’s not make a declaration of surrender. The league table is short so it’s not like we’re thinking of giving up at the moment. There are teams better equipped than us, but we will try until the end.”
