French newspaper make the claim that Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma could return to Milan in the summer. The Azzurri star made a high-profile switch to Ligue last summer, a move that was widely criticized in Italy.
According to L’Equipe, the future of Donnarumma is closely linked to that of PSG sporting Director Leonardo. Should the Brazilian leave PSG leave at the end of the season, Donnarumma could also depart.
The 23-year-old has struggled for regular playing time and made a series of mistakes in two Champions League matches, ultimately ending in PSG’s elimination from the competition.
The French newspaper suggest that Milan could exploit the situation to bring Donnarumma back to Milan, especially if the Rossoneri are taken over by the investment fund of Bahrain, Investcorp.
Despite the rumours, a return would be very complicated, given Mike Maignan’s commanding performances since joining as well as the controversy over Donnarumma’s departure from Milan last summer.
