Start

The CEO of A22, the company charged with promoting the European Super League, says he would like to work with former Juventus President Andrea Agnelli in the future. Bernd Reichart was speaking with ANSA following today’s news that the European Super League is set to make a return with up to 50 clubs being invited to take part.

Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona are are still a part of the project which was initially met with anger and backlash from both supporters and UEFA.

Reichart was asked if he was concerned about Juventus’ legal issues, namely the FIGC’s decision to impose a 15-point deduction and the ongoing Prisma investigation.

“No, I will continue to work together with the Juventus representatives in a constructive and productive manner.

“I will continue to appreciate them as committed partners in the project, who care about the sustainability of football.

“Agnelli? Andrea will make a decision and do what he wants to do. I want to make sure I can still deal with him and his advice and knowledge, few people know European football like he does.

“There is a key message we send to everyone: there will be no more permanent members, we want to focus on meritocracy. We learnt from the debate surrounding the initial Super League proposal.

“Sporting merit is one of the key principles. Both clubs and fans want an attractive and competitive competition.”
