Milan have confirmed that midfielder Ismael Bennacer has been diagnosed with a thigh injury and will miss this weekends derby against Inter. The 25-year-old picked up the injury during the Rossoneri’s 4-0 defeat to Lazio and there were fears he could be looking at a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
MRI tests have now confirmed that he has a minor lesion to the femoral bicep in his left leg and is expected to undergo further tests next week to see how the muscle is healing.
Reports from Sky Sport Italia suggest that the news is mostly positive as the midfielder is aiming to return or the Champions League Round of 16 tie against Tottenham Hotspur on February 14.
Milan are already missing Mike Maignan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alessandro Florenzi and Fikayo Tomori and have lost four of their last five matches across all competitions.
