Roma Ultras confront Zaniolo at his home

Start

The situation surrounding Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo has worsened after a group of the clubs ultras reportedly confronted him at his home. The 23-year-old is on the transfer list after telling Roma that he wishes to leave, with Milan his preferred destination. The Giallorossi had accepted a bid from Premier League club Bournemouth, but Zaniolo angered supporters by turning down the move and failing to meet with the clubs emmisaries.

La Gazzetta dello Sport write that immediately after Roma’s 2-1 loss to Napoli on Sunday, a group of Roma ultras gathered in front of Zaniolo’s house, chanting: “S**t! If we lost it’s all your fault. Leave!”

The Italian forward was allegedly chased away after arriving home and threatened with death before calling the police for assistance. Officers were sent to the area and the ultras quickly dispersed, leaving Zaniolo very shaken and scared by the incident.

Reports from the Italian media have suggested the Italian international may end up having to remain at the club until summer, but will be left on the sidelines until then.
