Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie is set to join Premier League side Leeds United.
According to various media outlets, including Gianluca Di Marzio, Fabrizio Romano, and The Athletic, the USMNT international will join Leeds on an initial six-month loan deal.
McKennie, 24, has been linked with a move to England throughout the January transfer window. He has fallen down the pecking order at Juventus with Massimiliano Allegri keen to offer youngsters Nicolò Fagioli and Fabio Mirretti more game time. Adrien Rabiot’s contract renewal has also been considered as vital in terms of creating more funds in Juve’s wage bank.
The loan will cost Leeds €1.2m, whilst there is an option-to-buy clause of €33m plus potential add-ons attached to the deal. McKennie has already agreed personal terms with Jesse Marsch’s team and will fly to England tomorrow morning to undergo a medical.
The Athletic reported this afternoon that Nottingham Forest may attempt to hijack the deal, but McKennie’s scheduled medical test appears to have squashed any hope on Forest’s side.
He will leave Turin having made 65 appearances in all competitions and lifted the Coppa Italia with Juve in 2021.
