Roma legend and current SPAL coach Daniele De Rossi says he would love to have former teammate Radja Nainggolan join his side. The former Belgian international is set to become a free agent in the coming days after agreeing to terminate his contract with Antwerp having been caught smoking an e-cigerette on the bench.
Rumours have linked Nainggolan with a move back to Cagliari where he first made his name in Italy, but other reports have linked him with SPAL, where he could link-up with De Rossi, following their successful time together at Roma.
The suggestion was put to De Rossi in his pre-match press conference ahead of SPAL-Ascoli:
“What I remember about Radja is that he is a player who is too good for Serie B. He is a unique footballer, strong and without a team. And I would always like strong players without a team.”
“Radja scares a lot of people away with his attitude. I don’t fear him. He has a giant heart. I would like to have Nainggolan in my team. He is strong and I trust him.”
“However, I haven’t spoken with him and it’s up to the president to handle these matters. I have to focus on the players who are in my dressing room.”
