Arsenal are currently finalising the transfer of Jakub Kiwior from Spezia.
Kiwior, 22, is set to undergo medical tests with the Premier League leaders this weekend after negotiations reached advanced stages today. He is expected to travel to London on Saturday night or Sunday.
The Poland international has commanded a fee of approximately €25m plus potential bonuses, according to Tomasz Włodarczyk who broke the news via Merczyki. Spezia will, therefore, make a substantial profit on a player who they bought for €2.2m 18 months ago.
Gianluca Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano have since confirmed that the deal has effectively been completed. Włodarczyk claims that Kiwior will sign a five-and-a-half year contract with Arsenal. According to Nicolò Schira, the 22-year-old has agreed to a weekly salary of approximately €48,000.
The left-footed centre-back, who has made 17 Serie A appearances for Spezia this season, will compete with Gabriel Magalhães for a position in Mikel Arteta’s team. He is also comfortable playing defensive midfield – featuring prominently in this role last season – and leaves Italy having made 43 appearances for Aquilotti.
Juventus and Milan had previously been linked with Kiwior, as relayed by Foot Italia.
