Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is hopeful that Romelu Lukaku will regain his form and explained why he has set no deadlines for Milan Skriniar. The Nerazzurri face Parma in the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia final, and ahead of the match, Marotta spoke with SportMediaset (via FCInter1908) about the importance of the competition and the status of both Skriniar and Lukaku:
The Coppa Italia is known to be a very fascinating competition in which the big clubs believe a lot, so this evening we must absolutely not underestimate the opponent and absolutely try to qualify to the next round.
The SuperCoppa against Milan? That too is a trophy and a rich, fascinating and unprecedented final that has been missing for so many years. It’s not played in Italy, but the TV context is there so everyone can follow it, I hope it’s a good match and a good spot for our football movement.
The Monza result and mistakes? I am bitter because that disallowed goal would have allowed us to win. But players make mistakes, managers and coaches make mistakes, so it seems fair and human that the referee also makes mistakes.
Am i reflecting on VAR? Certainly yes, the sudden whistle generated the uselessness of VAR and so this leads to reflection. We need more caution from all the components.
Lukaku’s injury and form? It happens, Lukaku had accustomed us to having good games in his previous experience here, but this year his stay at Inter is punctuated by difficult situations. The hope is that he can regain the athletic form that will allow him to score the goals he got us used to seeing in his previous experience.
