A report from Italian newspaper La Repubblica suggests that Chelsea midfielder Jorginho wants to return to Napoli. The 31-year-old famously made his name with the club when he starred under Maurizio Sarri, eventually following the coach to London when he took over at the Blues.
La Repubblica report that the player is out of contract next summer and is being followed by Newcastle and Barcelona, but the player’s ‘dream’ is to return to Naples.
According to the report, Jorginho’s time at Chelsea is at an end and he is now waiting for a move from Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis to bring him back, however his €6m a season salary would be a stumbling block.
The suggestion is that the Italy international would need to take a significant cut in his wages to make the move a reality, as well as agreeing to spread out the payments. For his part, the player is reportedly keen on a return while coach Luciano Spalletti would welcome his inclusion in the squad as he would work in tandem with Stanislav Lobotka.
