Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah admits he would like to return to play in Italy at some point with Inter being closely linked with the player. The USA international began his career at Giorgione in Serie D before making the move to England and then Spain to feature for the Valencia youth setup.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FCInter1908) the youngster spoke about his career to date and the links with the Nerazzuri:
What memories do you have of Italy?
“I spent my childhood in Italy, I cannot forget. I lived very good years of my life, I still have many friends there and I always talk to them.”
From Giorgione to Arsenal: what was the path?
“I came to Italy when I wasn’t even a year old. I was born in New York, in the Bronx. But my parents were already in Italy for work, so I joined them early. And then it was natural to start with football.”
Since you always hear from your friends in Italy, do you know what they say back home?
“Are you by any chance asking me about Inter?”
Correct.
“I’ve also heard and read many things in the last few days. But to tell the truth, my agent hasn’t told me anything about it, so I can’t know to the full extent how much there is truth to it.”
It must have triggered a thought for you, though….
“In life you never know what happens. Of course I would like to one day return as a star player.”
Can you see yourself, in the Italian league?
“Maybe yes, who knows.”
Maybe you can ask Gattuso, your coach at Valencia, for some advice on the matter.
“He and I always talk in Italian. He is making me grow, he is a good person and a great coach. With him I am gaining a lot of confidence, I am becoming a better player.”
What is your goal for this World Cup?
“To qualify from the group, we only have that in our head. We have to do that, that’s our goal. But if we play with the same mentality shown with Wales, I have no doubt.”
