OFFICIAL: Domenico Criscito confirms retirement

Toronto FC defender Domenico Criscito has confirmed his retirement from football, five months after making the move to MLS. The former Genoa captain and Italy international ended his 19-year career, which also included a stint in the Russian Premier League.

His retirement was confirmed via a statement on Toronto FC’s official website:

Thank you very much, Toronto FC, for these six beautiful months. My family and I enjoyed our time in this incredible city, and we felt a part of this great family from day one, It is time for me to go home and evaluate what I will do for my future.”

Criscito scored 51 goals in 554 appearances across top European competitions, including Serie A, Russian Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, FIFA World Cup and UEFA Nations League.
