Italian international midfielder Marco Verratti is in advanced talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a contract extension. The 30-year-old’s existing deal with the Ligue 1 champions runs until June 2024, but talks are already underway over a new contract for the midfield maestro.
French paper L’Equipe report that PSG are very keen to keep Verratti in Paris for the foreseeable future and are looking to extend his contract until 2026. The new deal could be finalised during the international World Cup break and could be completed by the time Ligue 1 resumes in late December.
With Italy not participating in the World Cup, the coming month is seen as the perfect time to complete contract talks with the Azzurri midfielder.
Verratti joined the French side from Pescara in 2012 in a €12 million deal, spending over a decade with PSG while winning eight Ligue 1 titles in the process – more than any other player in French football history. He’s also won six editions of the Coupe de France, six Coupe de la Ligue and nine French Supercups.
