Inzaghi: ‘We know it will be a demanding match’

Start

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi is well aware that the Nerazzurri’s fixture against Atalanta will be potentially their biggest challenge thus far, as plenty is at stake. “We know it will be a demanding match, the motivations that the two teams will be able to put on the pitch will make a difference. We and Atalanta both had three days to prepare for the match in the best possible way,” the Emilian tactician started off by stating within the press conference, via La Gazzetta dello Sport.

As it stands, both teams are on level terms sitting in fifth with a total of 27 points. Securing all three points at the Gewiss Stadium would enable either side to inch closer towards attaining Champions League.

With the Benemata haven’t yet obtaining a single point off any of the big six within the Serie A, as well as possessing a dreadful away record of three wins and four losses, an immense amount of pressure lies on Inzaghi’s side to perform, as mentioned by the media on the eve of Inter’s clash in Bergamo:

You haven’t won a head to head yet. What explanation is given?

“Something was missing in the league: clearly we have to work more on the episodes and details. In the Champions League we managed to limit this problem in important clashes, for example against Barcelona. We have not yet succeeded in the league: we hope that tomorrow will be the first. time”.

Are there any corrections you have thought of in order to be able to deal with direct clashes and, more generally, away matches in a different way? Are you thinking of a more prudent attitude?

“The team will go on the pitch to win every single match: after Juventus we had two days of analysis, then there was the excellent match against Bologna, but we must not look back. Let’s think about tomorrow and Atalanta: it will be a very difficult challenge because we know that Bergamo is a very difficult field “.

Will Atalanta be angry about their last two defeats: a further risk for Sunday’s match?

“Certainly yes, but regardless of the results Atalanta is always a very well organized team, with clear playing principles. We will find an opponent with great determination, so we will have to do our best.”
