Zhang gives go-ahead for Skriniar renewal

Start

Inter President Steven Zhang has reportedly given the green light for the club to pursue a contract extension for Milan Skriniar. The player’s existing deal ends in June 2023 and negotiations over a new contract have stalled for the moment, with Ligue 1 side PSG looming in the background.

The Parisiens were reportedly pushing heavily to sign the centre-back all summer and could return in January, should the player fail to agree a new deal with the Nerazzurri.

La Gazzetta dello Sport now report that much will depend on Skriniar, however a new €100m capital injection from Zhang would offer the resources to renew the contract of the Slovakian international.

Inter management are expected to meet with Skriniar’s agents soon enough but it’s unclear if the player will accept their offer, given the €9m a season that PSG were prepared to offer him. Inter’s offer is expected to be closed to €6m per season and Zhang is reportedly keen not to sell Skriniar, however the club run the risk of losing him for nothing in June 2023.
