One of Europe’s most in-form sharpshooters may be available for a cut-price, as Atalanta reportedly set their valuation for Mateo Retegui.

Having arrived on a quick-fire deal to fill the shoes of Gianluca Scamacca, who suffered an ACL injury in August which has kept him out of action all season, Retegui has been a surprise revelation since arriving in Bergamo.

24 goals in 32 Serie A apperances has seen him pull away as the league’s top scorer, with Fiorentina’s Moise Kean the next-nearest on 17.

Atalanta are treading cautiously over Retegui’s future; on one hand they would be reluctant to sell given his form this season, but they are also realistic about the his prospects of a bigger club, if and when one comes along.

€60 million is the apparent minimum Atalanta would require in order to contemplate a deal, but it is likely he could come at more of a premium given his fruitful season in front of goal.

Why Do Juventus Want Mateo Retegui?

His impressive tally has been crucial to Atalanta cementing their grasp on third spot, and it appears Juventus — who sit just behind them in fourth — are eager to acquire his goalscoring services.

Contract negotiations with Dusan Vlahovic have reached an impasse, with the Serbian striker thought to be looking for a move away from Turin.

His current deal with the Old Lady expires in 2026, and given he has a mediocre return of just nine goals in 26 appearances, they are also believed to be willing to sell this summer before he becomes a free agent next year.

According to reports in Italy, the Bianconeri have long been admirers of Retegui since he arrived in Italy, and are monitoring his situation, along with a host of other targets ahead of the summer window.

Retegui’s stock has risen after also become a key part of the Italy national team, and the thought is he would prefer a move inside of Serie A, rather than further afield.
