The latest Juventus injury news puts even more pressure on manager Igor Tudor, whose selection of available defenders is wearing increasingly thin.

The tail end of Juventus’ season will see them pushing to keep themselves in contention for Champions League qualification, but those prospects just got that little bit harder.

Englishman Lloyd Kelly was forced off with a suspected muscle injury in Sunday’s victory over Monza, leaving the Old Lady with just two readily available centre-backs.

The most notable defensive absentee is Gleison Bremer having been ruled out since October with an ACL injury, while Federico Gatti is also still out of action.

A pair of loanees in Renato Veiga and Pierre Kalulu are the only available central defenders heading into a pivotal end-of-season schedule, which includes a potential Champions League qualification decider against Bologna, as well as a tough trip to the capital to face Lazio.

Kelly completed defensive three made up entirely of loanees, which tells you all you need to know about the limited options at Juventus’ disposal, but the latest on his injury could rule him out for the next game at the very least.

A statement from Juve reads: “Lloyd Kelly, having reported a muscle problem in his right thigh at the end of last night’s game against Monza, underwent diagnostic tests this morning at J|Medical, which revealed a low-grade hamstring injury.

“New examinations will be repeated in about 10 days’ time in order to define the exact recovery time.”

With Kelly expected to be miss at least the next 10 days through injury, the Newcastle loanee will miss next weekend’s pivotal clash against Bologna, while the trip to Lazio on May 11 may also come too soon.

Juventus currently occupy the fourth and final Champions League spot heading into the last four games of the season. Bologna and Roma are breathing down their necks as they chase a two-point deficit, while Lazio and Fiorentina also have ambitions of closing the gap with both just three points off the pace in a fascinating run-in.
