How Many Serie A Titles Have Napoli Won And When Was Gli Azzurri’s Last Success?

Start

A Napoli Serie A title win for the 2024-25 campaign is a lot more likely owing to Inter’s shock 1-0 defeat to Bologna on gameweek 33.

The Nerazzurri were downed by a last-gasp Riccardo Orsolini scissor-kick at the Renato Dall’Ara. That loss now means Simone Inzaghi’s side leads the Italian premier division by goal difference.

Gli Azzurri managed to beat Monza by a single goal 24 hours previous thanks to a Scott McTominay strike. The former Manchester United midfielder has now netted 10 times in all competitions this season.

With just five matchdays left to navigate, the race for the Scudetto is really intensifying. Soccer fans from across the globe are certainly in for a treat as the season comes to a close.

With that in mind, many will be wondering when was the last time a Napoli Serie A title win occurred and how many times have the I Ciucciarelli been crowned champions of Italy?

Napoli Serie A Titles

The number of Napoli Serie A titles currently on record is three. Gli Azzurri tasted their first success when the legendary Diego Maradona played for the club.

The Argentine superstar spent seven years in Naples and was part of the side who won the Italian top tier in the 1986-87 season as well as in 1989-90.

Most notably, I Ciucciarelli have renamed their stadium in honor of the former forward. During his time with Napoli, Maradona won five trophies and scored 115 times in 259 appearances.

In 1987, Napoli won the league by three points ahead of Juventus. In 1990, they finished two points ahead of AC Milan.

The last and most recent Scudetto was obtained in 2022-23. Victor Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Kim Min-jae all starred as Luciano Spalletti’s star finished 16 points clear of runners-up Lazio.

Interestingly, the trio of players and head coach have all left the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona but Osimhen is still contracted to the club but is out on loan at Galatasaray.

Only time will tell if current head coach Antonio Conte will lead Napoli to their fourth Serie A title. The Italian boss has won three Scudetto’s with Juventus and one with Inter.
