USMNT Star Christian Pulisic Set To Lose Up To Six AC Milan Teammates After Underwhelming Campaign

Start

USMNT star Christian Pulisic could lose up to six of his AC Milan teammates this summer, with reports suggesting that the club are set for a squad overhaul following a disappointing campaign.

78-time United States international Christian Pulisic could be forced to say goodbye to six of his AC Milan teammates this summer off the back of a disappointing Serie A campaign.

I Rossoneri currently occupy ninth place in the Italian top-flight table, nine points adrift of the Champions League qualification positions, and they could well miss out on European qualification altogether.

They started the campaign with Paulo Fonseca at the helm, but after a disappointing few months, he was replaced by his compatriot and former Inter Milan, Parma and Lazio winger Sergio Conceicao in December.

Conceicao, a Serie A winner in 1999-2000, led Milan to an eighth Supercoppa Italiana triumph in his first two games as head coach, defeating Juventus 2-1 in the semi-final before besting Inter 3-2 in the final.

Since then though, they have struggled in the league, winning just two of their last seven, and were eliminated from the Champions League after losing 2-1 on aggregate to Eredivisie side Feyenoord in the knockout phase play-offs.

That being said, they are still in with a chance of winning a second trophy this term, as Pulisic and co are in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia. The Rossoneri are currently level at 1-1 against city rivals Inter after the first leg, with the second leg scheduled to be played towards the end of the month. Bologna or Empoli await the winner in the final.

Pulisic Could Lose Up To Six Milan Teammates This Summer

With Milan potentially missing out on the financial benefits of European football in 2025/26, La Gazzetta dello Sport report that club chiefs are considering selling up to six first-team players to cut costs.

One of those is Pulisic’s fellow USMNT star Yunus Musah, who has failed to make any real impact at the San Siro since his €20million move from La Liga side Valencia in 2023. The midfielder is yet to score a single goal for the club despite making over 75 appearances in all competitions.

Also among the list of potential departures are Theo Hernandez, Emerson Royal, Samuel Chukwueze and former Chelsea stars Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori.

Club captain and first-choice goalkeeper Mike Maignan, German central defender Malick Thiaw and Portugal international winger Rafael Leao are listed as outsiders to be sold too, although it would likely take a significant offer for any of the three to be sold.

Pulisic’s position in the squad looks to be safe for now though, as despite the downfalls of Milan’s campaign on the whole, the 26-year-old has impressed on a personal level, having notched 15 goals and 10 assists in 41 appearances thus far this term.
