How Many Times Have Inter Won The Champions League And When Was Their Last Victory?

Start

Ahead of their quarter-final clash against Bayern Munich this week, the Inter UCL record makes for very interesting reading.

When it comes to Europe’s elite club competition, I Nerazzurri are Italy’s second most successful soccer side. City rivals Milan take the number one spot.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Azzuri’s most famous and decorated club come in third position. Juventus have won the UCL just twice in their history.

That is a mammoth five victories less than I Rossoneri and the Old Lady won’t have the chance to add to their lowly tally until at least next season.

Inter, Milan and Juve are the only three Italian soccer sides to taste victory in the UCL. Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Roma have all reached the final but never gone all the way.

What Is Inter’s UCL Record?

Since their first appearance in the 1963/64 season, Inter’s UCL record has seen the Italian giants play 223 games. Across those fixtures, I Nerazzurri have won 110 matches.

They have lost on 55 occassions and drawn the remaining 58. That is upto and including Inter’s very last game against Feyenoord on March 11 this year.

Who Are Inter’s Leading UCL Goalscorers?

Inter’s all-time leading goalscorers in the UCL are Brazilian legend Adriano and current superstar forward Lautaro Martinez. Both players have netted 18 times for the club.

In second spot is Inter hero Sandro Mazzola. The former Italian attacker spent his entire career with I Nerazzurri and netted 17 UCL goals.

Most Inter UCL Appearances

Unsurprisingly, Inter legend Javier Zanetti has made the most UCL appearances for the club. The former full-back featured 105 times for I Nerazzurri in Europe’s elite club competition.

Ivan Cordoba is next up with an impressive 68 UCL appearances. Esteban Cambiasso completes the podium places with 66 appearances.

How Many UCL’s Have Inter Won?

Interestingly, Inter have won the UCL on just three occasions. I Nerazzurri’s first came in the 1963/64 season whereby they defeated Real Madrid 3-1 in the final.

That was also the club’s first ever UCL campaign. The Italians followed that victory up by retaining the trophy the following season – beating Benfica 1-0 in front of 89,000 fans at the San Siro.

The third and final success came in the historic treble-winning season of 2009/10. Diego Milito scored both goals in the 2-0 win against none other than Bayern Munich.

In terms of finishing as runners-up, Inter have done so on three occasions. The most recent was the 2022/23 final whereby Man City won 1-0 in Istanbul.
