Arsenal finds themselves in a severe attacking crisis as the season enters its crucial phase. The Gunners have lost their primary striker, Brazilian Gabriel Jesus, to a knee ligament injury, and now their false nine, German Kai Havertz, is also sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a knee tendon injury sustained during the team’s training camp in Dubai.
Calciomercato report how, currently, Arsenal’s only available attacking options are wingers Raheem Sterling and Leandro Trossard, along with young prospect Ethan Nwaneri, born in 2007. The injury list also includes Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli and England international Bukayo Saka, with the latter expected to be out until early April. This timing means Saka could potentially return for the Champions League quarter-finals but will miss the crucial round of 16 matches in March, where Arsenal will face either Milan, Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven, or Juventus.
Interestingly, Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic has been linked with a move to Arsenal. The Serbian forward, whose contract expires in June 2026, is expected to part ways with the Turin club at the end of the season. Another high-profile name connected to the Gunners is Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez, though the Argentine’s contract runs until 2029, and he has a much stronger relationship with his current club.
Despite the injury crisis, Arsenal is not planning to dip into the free agent market immediately. Instead, the club is focusing on the upcoming summer transfer window. Their primary target is Benjamin Sesko, the talented Slovenian striker born in 2003, currently playing for RB Leipzig. A bidding war is expected for his signature.
As an alternative, Arsenal is also considering Matheus Cunha, the Brazilian forward born in 1999, who currently plays for Wolverhampton Wanderers and has previously featured for Atletico Madrid and Hertha Berlin.
This summer promises to be a crucial period for Arsenal as they look to bolster their attacking options and avoid a repeat of their current injury-induced crisis.
