Juventus Target Hancko Shines Against Milan, Nullifying Gimenez

Start

David Hancko, Juventus’ prime defensive target for the upcoming summer transfer window, delivered a masterclass performance in Feyenoord’s 1-0 victory over AC Milan in the Champions League playoff first leg. While much of the post-match analysis focused on the disappointing displays of João Félix and former Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, Hancko’s dominant showing may have been overlooked.

Calciomercato report how the Slovak defender’s impact on the game becomes evident when comparing his statistics with those of Gimenez. Hancko won 75% of his challenges, completed 85% of his duels, made two clearances, and achieved an 84% pass completion rate, including 10 vertical passes. Most impressively, he committed zero fouls throughout the match. In stark contrast, Gimenez failed to win any challenges, completed only 18% of his duels, managed just one shot attempt, and created only one goal-scoring opportunity.

This performance is not an isolated incident for Hancko, who has consistently delivered strong displays throughout the season, including a notable outing in Feyenoord’s 3-0 victory over Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich.

Juventus’ sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has long admired Hancko and even attempted to secure his services during the January transfer window. However, Feyenoord’s firm stance on a permanent transfer valued at no less than €35 million proved to be a stumbling block.

Despite this setback, Giuntoli has reportedly secured the player’s agreement and reached an understanding on contract terms. Essentially, Juventus has Hancko within their grasp, but his continued impressive performances are likely to increase both his market value and international interest.
