Former Italy national team coach Cesare Prandelli has expressed doubts about Inter Milan’s current form ahead of their crucial Serie A match against Fiorentina. Speaking to Radio Anch’io lo Sport on Radio Rai, Prandelli shared his thoughts on Inter’s recent performance and the challenges they face.
Reflecting on Inter’s surprising 3-0 defeat to Fiorentina last week, Prandelli said, “The Inter we saw in Florence was unlike anything we’ve seen for months, but we also saw a capable Fiorentina. The coach controlled their half of the field, and when they had the ball, they quickly played vertically. Football is beautiful like this too; you don’t always have to demonstrate that you can build play constantly. It was an extraordinary Fiorentina, even if perhaps forced by absences.”
However, Prandelli’s main concern lies with Inter’s overall form. He stated, “We’ll obviously see a different Inter tonight. But there’s something about Inter that’s not convincing me. I’m not sure if they’re a team that has already given everything, and perhaps something new is needed.”
The experienced coach also commented on the Serie A title race, particularly focusing on Napoli’s chances. “Teams have realized that by closing all the spaces, Napoli finds difficulties, but Conte will find solutions,” Prandelli explained. “Napoli is perhaps the only one that can think of going all the way and winning the title. The others are struggling because they’re involved in cup competitions. In recent matches, I’ve seen some very tired teams.”
