Federico Cherubini has embarked on a new mission to revitalise Parma Calcio, but he hasn’t forgotten his roots at Juventus. In his first press conference as Parma’s new CEO, Cherubini reflected on his time with the Turin giants and paid tribute to his former colleagues.
Cherubini, who took over as Parma’s CEO about two weeks ago, now oversees both the sporting and corporate areas of the club. This marks a fresh start for the former Juventus executive, who was suspended in 2023 during the plusvalenza scandal investigation and left the club in June 2024 after a 12-year tenure.
During the press conference, Cherubini addressed the court ruling and his relationships with former Juventus president Andrea Agnelli and ex-sporting director Fabio Paratici, whom he described as “the best sporting director.”
Cherubini stated, “Myself, Fabio Paratici, and others involved like Maurizio Arrivabene and President Agnelli, never wanted to comment on the ruling. It doesn’t mean we agreed with it, but in a democratic system, some things must be accepted without comment.”
He continued, “I want to talk about my relationship with Paratici: I spent nine out of twelve years with him, and thanks to him, I came to Juventus. Despite much speculation, especially in the media, I have an excellent relationship with him, even though it was a very tough situation both personally and professionally. I hope he can return as soon as possible; his suspension will end soon. In my opinion, he has proven and will prove again that he is the best sporting director, one of the few who had the strength to work abroad.”
Cherubini also took the opportunity to express gratitude for his time at Juventus: “Today we should talk about Parma, but I wanted to expand on the fact that I left Juventus in June after 12 years. In these months, I preferred not to speak, believing it wasn’t right, and I hadn’t had the chance to close the cycle with a thank you. I do so today, also mentioning President Agnelli, with whom I shared this journey. I thank him and hope he can return soon. What we experienced has been tarnished by the news, but in history, it will remain a cycle of sporting victories and off-field achievements like projects, infrastructure, and the second team.”
