Torino head coach Paolo Vanoli has made significant additions to his squad in the final days of the winter transfer window, potentially reshaping his team for their upcoming Serie A fixture against Genoa. New arrivals Cesare Casadei, Eljif Elmas, and former Fiorentina skipper Cristiano Biraghi are all in contention to feature in Saturday’s match.
However, the Granata will be without Mergim Vojvoda, who has moved to Como, and Alieu Njie, who recently underwent surgery for a serious leg injury. Njie joins long-term absentees Perr Schuurs and Duvan Zapata on the sidelines.
Vanoli are expected to deploy a 4-2-3-1 formation, with top scorer Che Adams leading the line. Behind the attack, goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic has been a standout performer this season, making more saves than any other keeper in Serie A with 86 stops to his name.
On the other side, Genoa have had a mixed transfer window. While they were unable to move controversial striker Mario Balotelli, who has had a falling out with manager Patrick Vieira, they have seen the departures of Pierluigi Gollini and Alessandro Vogliacco.
The Grifone have bolstered their squad with the signings of Jean Onana and Danish defender Sebastian Otoa, both of whom could make the bench for the upcoming match. However, another new signing, Maxwell Cornet, is unavailable due to a thigh injury.
Genoa’s selection issues are compounded by the absence of Ruslan Malinovskyi through injury, while Mattia Bani is doubtful. Additionally, Koni De Winter will serve a suspension after accumulating another booking in their previous match.
