AC Milan have officially announced the departure of midfielder Ismaël Bennacer to Olympique Marseille. The Algerian international joins the French club on a loan deal with an option to buy, marking the end of his five-and-a-half-year tenure with the Rossoneri.
The transfer, which materialized on the final day of the January transfer window, comes after intense negotiations between the two clubs. Marseille will pay a €1 million loan fee for Bennacer’s services until the end of the season, with an option to make the move permanent for €12 million plus potential bonuses.
Bennacer’s time at Milan was marked by significant achievements, including winning the Scudetto in 2022 and the Supercoppa Italiana in 2025. The 27-year-old midfielder made 178 appearances for the club across all competitions, establishing himself as a key figure in the team’s midfield.
The decision to allow Bennacer’s departure was not taken lightly, with reports suggesting some tension arose due to the timing of Marseille’s approach. However, Milan has moved swiftly to secure a replacement, with Warren Bondo from Monza expected to fill the void left by the Algerian’s exit.
