Juventus are looking to make it three for three in their defensive reinforcement campaign. After successfully recruiting Portuguese talent Renato Veiga from Chelsea and English defender Lloyd Kelly from Newcastle, the Bianconeri have set their sights on another central defender.
Calciomercato report that the latest target for Juventus is Italian prospect Nicolò Bertola, a 21-year-old currently plying his trade with Spezia in Serie B. Bertola’s contract is set to expire in June, making him an attractive free transfer option for top clubs.
However, Juventus aren’t alone in their pursuit. Inter Milan has also been tracking Bertola’s progress, while Cagliari recently expressed interest during negotiations for the transfer of striker Gianluca Lapadula to Spezia.
Bertola, a product of Spezia’s youth academy, has already made a significant impact in his young career. He has amassed 41 first-team appearances for Spezia, contributing 4 goals and 2 assists while demonstrating his defensive prowess. His disciplinary record shows 8 yellow cards and one red card, indicating a player who isn’t afraid to make his presence felt on the pitch.
The young defender’s journey also includes a loan spell with Montevarchi in Serie C during the 2022/2023 season, providing him with valuable experience in senior football.
